Caroline: You said you'd take a bullet for me. You'd never take a bullet for me.
Max: Probably not. No one ever takes a bullet. It's just something people say that they don't mean, like "How was your day?"
Internship at Fixx Posted at 16:07 0 comments (+)
(Wrote this 2 weeks ago but I didn't publish it)

Oops. Been awhile since I last blogged.

It's a Friday night. And I'm home. The old me would be chillin' somewhere with my friends after work or school or partying away. But now, a perfect day for me would consist of reading, swimming, chilling at someone's place with acoustic music in the background.

Maybe because I'm getting old... But what the heck, I'm not even 21 yet. Or maybe 'cuz I'm exhausted after a day of work.

And that brings me to the point of today's entry - My internship at Fixx (www.fixx.sg)

I was very surprised when I found out that I was interning at Fixx instead of Gushcloud. When I went to the office on the first day, Darren said, "Fixx is somewhat like the digital arm of Gushcloud".

I thought it'd take me quite awhile to adjust my expectations because I really wanted to work with bloggers (!! Oh stalker Ame) and famous Youtubers (WongFu Productions collaborated with GC two weeks before I joined Fixx. Sigh #fateless) However, I was so wrong. By the end of Day 1, I already liked what I was doing. I like the people here. Their passion. Their energy. The amazing opportunities I have to learn and grow.

Week 1:
Team dinner at Irodori on my 2nd day of work!
#thingswedo
Making fun of Darren's (our boss, who's only 4 years older) tag lines hahaha.
Got me laughing like crazy in the office.

And because Charlotte told me that I've a tendency to exclaim in my emails and texts...

Week 2:
The girls @ Fixx! Our last day at our previous office @ Hoot Kiam Road.
Taking a break from all the packing and having dinner together.
Headed to our new office near 10pm, and started fixx-ing chairs and tables from Ikea. We were only done at around 2-ish in the morning... and it was a Thursday night.

This is our most updated group picture hahaha but we're missing Henner, Jem, Jasmine and Sheryl here.

Week 3 & 4:
Headed to KL with the Fixx Team to join Hackathon 2014! An event hosted by Gushcloud Malaysia.

Writing this in KL while the internet is down. The internet here makes me really frustrated. *shakes head* As for now, Evernote will suffice. & I'll just copy and paste this to blogger hahaha.

The number 1 thing I've learnt at work so far:
Know what works for you, and keep doing it.

I know it sounds really duh, but trust me, it's not that easy to remind yourself that all the time.
I'm someone who's driven by goals. If goals are not quantifiable, I'd take my time & nothing good would be done. Decent? Yes. But definitely not my best.

So for 'A' levels, I had specific goals. Specific scores I had to achieve to get to where I want. But in University, I didn't have that right from the start. I was too lazy/didn't bother to find out more on calculating my cumulative GPA. So yup, now my GPA is just... meh.

Charlotte discovered this trait of mine on the 2nd week and told me to send her my to-do list for the day first thing in the morning. Well, it's definitely working. :>

----
Kuala Lumpur so far has been exhausting but fun.

We took the bus ride up REALLY early in the morning and it took us forever (7 Hours, ouch my butt) to reach KL. And ever since I've gotten here, I've been… eating helping out eating eating helping out eating and not so much of sleeping.

Food log for the past 1.5 Days: #unhealthy

Ramly Burger, Coffee, Jo Jo Pan mee (somewhat like Malaysia's version of Kin Kin), Domino's Pizza, Dope Bermanti Indomee

Mac Breakfast, Coffee, Street Malay food, Jo Jo Pan Mee (again. This shows how awesome it is)

 Punny
 Gushcloud's Penthouse in KL
 View from the bedroom, heh.

---

Abrupt end 'cuz I got to settle my school exchange stuff, swim, tuition & meal prep for tomorrow's lunch.

From nothing into something,
Ame

"All this technology we have, it's just an illusion,
of community, companionship, a sense of inclusion
yet when you step away from this device of delusion,
you awaken to see, a world of confusion.

"Be there for your friends, and they'll be there too,
but no one will be, if a group message will do.

Look up from your phone, shut down that display,
stop watching this video, live life the real way."

That indescribable feeling Posted at 14:43 0 comments (+)
Every time I come across an emotional blog post or something sad (picture/whatev) being reblogged on tumblr, I have the urge to hug the person who wrote it and tell him/her that things will be ok in the end.

.
.
.

Even when the person doesn't know I exist.
Is it even normal T_T

Or maybe because I really enjoy giving hugs? (LOL)
Sadly, there are only 2 people in the world currently (because I'm pretty sure my future boyfriend/husband wouldn't hahaha) who won't shy away from my hugs & kisses:
Mummy & Daddy.
My siblings used to be willing when they were younger... Now I've to be sneaky about it.
My brother, Matt, is an easy 'victim' though. Success rate of kissing him would be 100% when he's playing dota ;)
 #tipforothercrazysistersoutthere

Andddd I guess this is one of the reasons why I MUST have kids in the future:
To be able to hug, smell, kiss and nom on their cheeks 24/7 :D
JUST LOOK AT THIS
NOSE TO NOSE.
Omgaaaaaaaah <3 <3 <3

Maybe I should send this to whoever's upset from now on. Teehee.

90% ding dong and 10% sane,

Hunger Hormones Posted at 02:44 0 comments (+)
Food. Food. Food.
"RAWR // I'M HUNGRRRRY ALL THE TIME!!"
They say you should always know who your enemy is, or who your enemies are, in this case

No wonder I'm at a weight-loss plateau after losing 3-4kg in 1.5 months after CNY this year. Mehh.
Got inspired to try out a new workout plan after Azalea posted her progress picture on Twitter!! I still remember talking to her about fitness stuff when we met at Uni-Y camp (one of the CSP camps in SMU!) two years ago. She lost weight and managed to get her abs!! So proud and happy for her for achieving her goal :> :>

And on the other hand... *looks down* I HAVE ABS TOO. Just that I have a layer of fat over them HAHAHA. Used to have crazy weight loss goals such as "Lose 10kg!!!!!" "LOW CARBS ALL THE WAY" and when I didn't achieve them within a few weeks, I started slacking :(

Super grateful to have friends who work out too, especially my fav workout partner, Fionelalalallaa Fooz who did the Insanity workout with me *\o/*!! Will be blogging about the new workout schedule tomorrow or something 'cuz it's really time for me to sleep (or attempt to) now.

Always yawning but not sleeping,
Ame

DIY Floral Hairband Tutorial Posted at 20:13 0 comments (+)
Hello guys! I was in town the other day and saw some really pretty floral headbands selling at Lovisa.
Something like this:
Taken from Lovisa website

Wanted to get it but uh,
1) Flowers were too big for my liking
2) The price tag $ - was going for about sgd $20 and I don't think i'll wear it out that often

Hence, I've decided to DIY!!
Materials needed:
1) Artificial flowers from Daiso - $2
I got white flowers cuz it's my favorite color... but Fel told me that it isn't advisable to wear white flowers in your hair for due to some Chinese tradition. o_o
2) Glue from Daiso - $2
Any super glue is alright too!
3) Old plain hairband
4) Scissors

Steps:
1) Cut the flowers off from the stem
2) Glue them on the head band

and.. you're done! :)

The last day Posted at 02:40 0 comments (+)
Well hello darlings,
SCHOOL'S OUT 'cuz I'm done with all my papers!

Had another random idea the night before my corporate communication paper and decided to jot it down. There's a folder in my dropbox containing all of that and I can't wait to try them out this SUMMER. HOORRRRRRAY!

Headed to MBS with the comm mates after our paper to spend the vouchers we had won for having one of the most interesting presentations haha. Thank you prof :)

All my profs this semester are really good btw! Didn't regret bidding for them:
IS 102: CAT - Prof Kyong
LGST 001 - Prof Melvin Chew
Comm 102 - Prof Brian Lee
MKTG 101 - Prof Chung

Had a great chat with Sally, and the things she said really got me thinking.
I should never, ever, discount myself.
Sounds like something Cat, Sa and Kim would say too hehe. Definitely blessed to be surrounded by people who'll give me wake-up calls occasionally.
Thanks for being silly, my friends.

Love,
Ame

So Dark, I don't wanna head back there Posted at 04:28 0 comments (+)
I was hungry. At 2am.
"No. No food for you, Fatty" and started pinching my thighs absentmindedly. Fortunately, I stopped after realizing what I was doing.
Here's something I've never really told anyone. About a year ago when I was trying so hard to lose weight, I'd stand naked in front of a mirror, pinch my fats & criticize myself. Painful, but satisfying in a weird way.

"Don't say something to yourself that you wouldn't say to a friend"
Would I stop someone from eating when she's hungry? Would I love someone less because she would look better if she were to lose 10 pounds? Would I tell her that her thighs are humongous and she needs to do something about it cuz "they are obviously rubbing against each other" when she isn't even overweight?

No, I wouldn't.

Today is probably just one of those days I feel shitty about myself. From hating my body 24/7 to occasionally, I'm definitely getting there.

Signing off with a quote & a happy tummy,
Ame

A thought for You and I Posted at 02:25 0 comments (+)
When you think that you can never be “good enough”, you allow yourself to settle for second-best. You allow yourself to be second-best. That is extremely selfish of you, because you and I, we’ve been blessed with the lives we have, and at our best, imagine what we can do — not only for ourselves but for the people around us, and for the world. At our best, we pursue an enriching existence and in being our best, we inspire the people around us. Never underestimate how much of an inspiration you are for others. You don’t need to be a celebrity in order to touch lives and trust me when I say this, for my family and friends have inspired me in so many of their little but significant ways.
The Ferocious Cat Posted at 02:12 0 comments (+)
So today, or rather, yesterday, I sat for my CAT paper in my fox muscle tank. Fox because it belongs to the dog family... and cats are terrified of dogs (hence I'd ace the paper), right?
Heading to school happily without knowing what lies ahead....
BAH.
Wrong. It was bad.

Got killed by the 2nd question and there were only 2 questions in the paper lolol. Norminv shit was back to haunt me (From A levels to Stats mod in uni and now, an Excel mod?!)
#yougottabekidding
Oh well, at least it's over. Goodbye, IS102 Computer as Analysis Tool, I WILL DEFINITELY NOT MISS YOU.

Dusty pink might just be my new favorite color Posted at 16:10 0 comments (+)
Snapshot of my Google Chrome right now.
Many thanks to Cat (Lai Foong Ming) for installing Momentum App on my chrome for me :D It's kinda obvious that I'm sitting for CAT (Computer as Analysis Tool) paper tomorrow...

The app is perfect for someone like me because:
  • I love motivational quotes. And there's a new quote on the page every day :D
  • I bring my laptop out more often than my planner and this allows you to have a to-do list at the side
  • New high-definition picture every day

How to download this application on your Google Chrome:
1) Google 'Momentum App' or head to this link.
2) Click the green button that says "Add to Chrome" on your top right hand corner
Mine's Added to Chrome cuz it's already installed!
3) Enjoy this amazing App :D

Had my weekly brunch with Sissy on Saturday:

We look really alike, but you can definitely tell us apart.
The height difference is a bit too much ah HAHAH
RAWRRR // Dinosaur in dusty pink

Sis: She's got my back
Me: Yep, datz right. NO. ONE. BULLIES. MY FAMILY. MEMBERS.
Same face, just that one has makeup on :)

Can't wait for tomorrow's paper to be over.
And it'll just be FCC left! :)
FIGHTING.

"Well, all things are difficult before they are easy"

Maybe I just don't want it bad enough.
No, wait.
